+AD4-I have some older Plexi aircraft windows where the paper protection has
+AD4-been on for a very long time. Some of the paper has shrunk and cracked into
+AD4-strips, but is stuck well onto the plexi.
+AD4- I tried water to soften it, but to no avail.
+AD4- Any suggestions?

I disagree. The solvents usually labeled "Mineral Spirits" contains a
lot of pretty nasty stuff that is likely to soften or craze acrylic
plastics. Yeah, sometimes you get away with it. Sometimes not.
I've been in the same situation, having mounted a 20-year-old canopy
transparency still in the protective paper.
I cleaned the paper and adhesive off with naptha (Coleman fuel) and
Xylene. And a lot of patience.
Thanks, Bob K.
